Galeya Rogdha Clinic operated without reliable electricity for more than a decade, limiting access to essential healthcare services. Today, that has changed. Thanks to Engera’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, the clinic now runs on solar power, ensuring uninterrupted care for thousands of people in southwestern Ethiopia.
In partnership with Precise Consult, Engera launched a successful crowdfunding campaign to support the installation of solar panels, carried out by Ethiopian renewable energy company Sun Transfer. The project not only introduced clean energy but also included extensive training for clinic staff to ensure long-term system maintenance and reliability.
The inauguration of the solar power system was a moment of celebration for the community. Bishop Abune Lukas T. Fiker blessed the occasion, while local healthcare workers and residents gathered to mark the beginning of a new chapter. With access to reliable electricity, the clinic can now provide care around the clock, significantly improving maternal and emergency services.
Speaking at the event, Mena from Precise shared a powerful message: “Now, no mother will suffer in the dark. Mothers will give birth in bright, well-lit rooms, ready to hold and care for their newborns.” With this new capacity, the clinic aims to expand its reach and serve up to 30,000 patients annually.
At Engera, we believe that access to electricity is about more than power – it is about dignity, health, and building a future where every community thrives. Galeya Rogdha Clinic is just the beginning. We hope to expand our efforts to the other health centers we support, ensuring more healthcare facilities across Ethiopia have sustainable energy solutions.
