We’re excited to be partnering with Kubik, Inc. to expand Galeya Rogdha Clinic in rural Ethiopia. Using sustainable building materials made from hard-to-recycle plastic waste, this expansion will improve healthcare access while reducing environmental impact – a real win-win for the community.

Last year, thanks to upgrades like 24/7 solar power and new ultrasound equipment, more women were able to give birth safely at the clinic. This new expansion will help us provide an even higher standard of care to the growing community.

The clinic will soon have:
Separate delivery and post-delivery rooms
Private showers and bathrooms for mothers
Pharmacy and outpatient services for children under five
An administrative office to support smooth operations

Thanks to Ethiopian-based climate tech company Kubik, over 15,000 kg of plastic will be reused, 2,287 kg of CO₂ emissions saved, and more than 1,000 jobs created for women plastic collectors.

Sister Tadelech, the clinic manager, says: “With this expansion, we’ll have the space and resources to give every woman the best possible care.”

Kidus Asfaw from Kubik adds: “Building dignity starts with giving people quality and affordable basic services. Engera is doing just that. We are proud to see our low-carbon building materials being used to upgrade the Galeya Rogdha clinic!”

Keep an eye out for updates as the expansion progresses.
